Tour overview

The town of Graskop marks the Southern entrance to the popular Panorama Route. The Pinnacle is the first viewpoint on route R534 and it is clearly signposted. The Pinnacle is a 30m- / 100ft high quartzite rock needle in a ravine that extends to the Lowveld below the escarpment. The Ngwaritsane River flows down the ravine, cascading over eight waterfalls along the way. The drop below the Ravine to the Lowveld is approximately 700m.

The ravine is covered in dense bush and ferns and you will need a local guide should you wish to venture into it. From time to time rock climbers scale the needle. It is however a difficult climb and you need to be well equipped to do it.

If you continue along the R534 you reach two other stops with views over the Lowveld, namely God’s Window and Wonder View. Further along the route you find Bourke’s Luck Potholes and The Three Rondavels viewpoint. The latter offers views over the Blyde River Canyon, the largest green canyon in the world.
